How not to fall victim of buying fake property in Lagos from abroad.
1. Buy from a licensed real estate company.
There are several governments approved real estate companies in Lagos that sell genuine properties.
So, buying from anyone of them always come with peace of mind. Most especially when you allow a realtor to help you through the process.

2. Make personal research about the property and the company.
when you see an advert of a property you are interested in, ask all the necessary information about it, ask for the name of the company and make your own finding.
Google is your friend, just type the name of the company, once you see that the company is a standard one, you can now make the next decision.
3. Buy through a realtor.
Mistakes most people in abroad make is that they think that buying directly from the company make the price of the property cheaper than buying through a realtor.
Buying through a realtor doesn’t increase the price, a realtor works for the company, buying through a realtor will make the realtor help you through the process.
because it is the realtor that can constantly update about the property, help you to monitor documentation process, monitor the allocation and any other process involve in the property acquisition. And also, you can easily call upon your realtor about the property.

4. Inspect the property before making payment.
There is virtual site inspection for people who are not in Lagos or who don’t have time coming for physical inspection. Don’t ever be in a hurry to pay for what you don’t have idea about.
If you don’t have any trusted relative to send for physical site inspection, kindly request for virtual inspection, through the live video, you will get to know the property better whether is a table, sloppy, dry, swampy or waterlogged land.
5. Pay into the company’s account.
This is the most sensitive part, don’t give a family member or friend or realtor such responsibility.
When it got a stage of paying money for the property, you will be given FAQ form ( FAQ simply means frequently asked questions).
Make sure you read the form thoroughly and carefully. Then make payment into the company’s account name. make sure you are paying into the company that owns the property.
6. Request for Softcopy documents.
After the payment the next thing is to get your payment receipts and land documents. Some companies waybill the documents while some send the softcopy of the documents.
Then, whenever you are in Nigeria you get the hardcopy, that is if you don’t want your hardcopy to be given to any of your relatives in Nigeria.
